About Young Blood Institute

We specialize in identifying unique opportunities to create, structure or restructure, and finance technology businesses with high growth potential and differentiated technology and market positions. We prefer the opportunity less obvious – the prospect that may daunt others – that may yet yield a unique result with focused effort. Rather than presume a particular strategy or financing path, we endeavor to uncover the essential nature of a given opportunity and then apply the strategic, operational, and financial resources needed to unlock hidden growth potential. Rather than target the obvious opportunity that attracts a crowd, we seek the overlooked, the slightly complicated, and the sometimes-misunderstood situations that most benefit from creative thinking and strategic problem solving. And rather than bet on bold promises of future performance, we resolve to reduce risk by thoughtfully considering how to execute operating plans step by step. We call these opportunities weird alpha because they may not conform to conventional investment logic and yet yield great returns by looking beyond outward appearance or seeing the situation from a different perspective. Often a business may have impediments to its natural path to success. A business unit may need to be carved out from its parent and operated with independent focus. A public company may need to be private, unencumbered by the whims of the public markets. A company may need to make key acquisitions to fill strategic gaps. A company may need to fundamentally change its business model or go-to-market strategy. We adapt to each situation as needed with open minds, marshaling the skills, partners, and people best suited to a given opportunity, whether it be to lead an investment syndicate, develop growth strategy plans, or support and augment management.
